The star’s sigh fell into the sea
This little story is inspired by the music and lyrics of Stephen Sanchez’s song.
To fall in love isn’t easy when you’re afraid of heights
But I can’t help but fall when I look into your eyes
Would you trust me to catch you at the bottom of the pool?
I’ll be your friend, but love you in my soul
The little mermaid went to the sea to find the witch.
I want a pair of human legs, she pleaded.
The witch said, “A girl once approached me with the same request a very, very long time ago. She gave me her lovely voice in return at that time. So, my child, what can you give me in return this time?”
The little mermaid asked, “I can’t exchange my voice with you because I want to tell him that I love him. I can’t exchange my eyes with you because I want to look at his handsome figure every day. What can I exchange with you other than that?”
The witch said, “Then give me your tears, child. I know that the tears that fall from your eyes are more beautiful than the pearls here.”
The little mermaid cried all the tears of her life. She used the plate handed to her by the witch to receive her tears, which fell into the plate and turned into more dazzling gems than pearls. She cried all the tears of her life.
The witch sealed tray after tray of tears in her huge glass jar.
The little mermaid got her legs. She came to the shore to wait for the prince.
The story went just as we expected. The prince took her back to the palace. She played the harps, danced, and sang for him every day.
The prince said, “My smiling princess, you have the most beautiful smile I have ever seen. Your happiness makes the rainbow also lose color. Your song is more beautiful than a mermaid singing at night. If angels fall to earth, they are no match for such a precious you.”
The little mermaid was so happy that she wanted to cry. Yet she could only smile more brightly than she had just done. She said, “My dear prince, I would like to let that rainbow rest in front of you forever. I am willing to ask the proud mermaid to sing for you day and night. I would…I would do anything for you.”
The days just passed by. She thought she could live happily ever after by the prince’s side. However, one day, the prince told her that he was in love with a girl.
The prince said, “My dear smiling princess, the girl I fell in love with, her tears broke my heart. I breathe her breath and ache her pain. I would give anything to make her happy.”
The little mermaid wanted to cry her entire life’s tears in front of him. However, she’d shed her last tear for him a long time ago.
She gazed at the prince, revealing a big smile, invisible tears slipped down her face.
The star’s sigh fell into the sea.
